Gilda's Club - Noogieland

Hopefully you remember Gilda Radner, the unforgettable comedian from NBC’s Saturday Night Live who died of ovarian cancer in 1989.  Gilda’s memory lives on through Gilda’s Club in Seattle .  People of all ages come together to Gilda’s Club to learn how to best cope with cancer. This “support community” consists of networking groups, lectures, workshops, social events as well as a place for children’s comfort.

Noogieland is the playroom area designated for children with cancer, or whose parents have cancer.  That’s where Westhill and Pacific Northwest Basements come into play.  Chuck was approached by Tami Michaels (Interior Designer heard Saturdays on KVI 570 radio) to remodel the lower level of the facility – previously a morgue!  We put our Lead, Chris Huxford on the job to install our Owens Corning Basement Finishing System.  Chris along with some wonderful volunteers worked day and night to complete this project in less than three weeks.  The excitement from the children upon seeing their new safe, clean and inviting environment to play was well worth it.  The emotional Grand Opening was Thursday, April 7th with well over 100 in attendance.  It aired on Northwest Afternoon, Tuesday April 12th.
